AAP burns effigies of 'evil of price rise' in Delhi, elsewhere

New Delhi, Oct 1 (IANS): Protesting against what it said was "skyrocketing" inflation and high petrol prices, AAP workers on Saturday burnt effigies representing the "evil of price rise" to coincide with Dussehra celebrations, the Aam Aadmi Party said.

An AAP statement said such effigies were burnt in all 272 municipal wards in Delhi, as well as in some other states.

"This day symbolises the victory of good over evil. The AAP workers burnt the effigy of the evil of price rise to protest against the problem," the statement said.

The protest was against all central government policies that result in skyrocketing inflation, including hike in patrol prices, the party said.

"The AAP demands that prices of petrol and diesel should be brought down immediately in tune with crude oil prices in the international market so that the benefit is passed on to the common man," it added.

    You are talking as if congress has not done price rise. During 1990s petrol price was 25/- and it became 80/- during UPA2.
    Import duty on gold increased by Chidu from 2% to 10%. And gold become costly for many..

    @Sri_elder,

    Do you know anything about the concept of inflation?. Surely not. Otherwise you wont compare 25 / - in 1990 and 80 Rupees in 2013.

    Do you know the impact of Crude oil price on selling price of Petrol? Surely not. During UPA, Crude oil was at about 140 dollar per barrel and UPA was selling petrol at about 70-75 rupees range. And under BJP, Crude oil is at 35-45 dollar per barrel and petrol price has reached even to more than 80 in some parts of India.
