Sasikala likely to come out of jail on parole

Chennai, Oct 2 (IANS): V.K. Sasikala, who is currently in Bengaluru prison following her conviction in a disproportionate assets case, is likely to come out soon on parole to visit her ailing husband M. Natarajan.

She has applied for parole and might come out on Tuesday, her nephew and leader of one of the AIADMK factions T.T.V. Dinakaran told reporters here.

"We have applied for parole for our General Secretary. She might come out on parole tomorrow (Tuesday) most probably," he said.

Dinakaran said advocates have sought for a 15-day parole but he was not sure how many days she would be granted leave.

Asked about the health condition of Mr. Natarajan, who is awaiting a liver transplant in a hospital in Chennai, Dinakaran said he was "stable".

A recent statement from Gleneagles Global Health City, where Natarajan is admitted, said he has a history of chronic liver disease and he has been receiving treatment for the last six months for his illness.

He has been registered with the Tamilnadu Organ Sharing (TNOS) waiting list for deceased donor liver transplantation.

"Currently, he is admitted at the Liver Intensive Care Unit with decompensated liver disease leading to liver failure, kidney failure and lung congestion", it said, adding he is receiving dialysis and other intensive care therapies.

Liver specialists headed by world renowned liver transplant surgeon Mohamed Rela are overseeing his case.
