Bengaluru, Oct 4: All India Congress Committee general secretary and Karnataka state Congress in-charge, K C Venugopal, who is angry at the failure of the party leaders to lead the ambitious 'Mane Manege Congress' programme to chalked out to spread achievements of the party to the general public, has asked chief minister, Siddaramaiah, and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president (KPCC), Dr G Parameshwara, to convene emergency parliamentary party meeting.

Venugopal will be visiting the state on October 5. He also has convened a meeting of observers deployed by KPCC for the said campaign, before the parliamentary party meeting. Venugopal wants to pool information about which of the ministers and legislators have not cooperated for the success of the above scheme. It is gathered that he will also be holding a meeting with presidents of party's units and office bearers of KPCC.

It is said that the membership registration unit led by former finance minister, P Chidambaram, which was formed by Congress high command, which is aimed at undertaking membership drive with zeal, has failed to succeed in Karnataka. Chidamaram has sought a de facto report about the drive. He will be visiting the state soon to take stock of the situation. This also is said to have fuelled the anger of Venugopal.

Venugopal had arrived in the city two days back and held discussions with Dr G Parameshwara and campaign committee president, D K Shivakumar, for two hours. As he could not properly gauge the reasons for the failures from these discussions, he decided to discuss the issue in parliamentary party meeting, it is learnt.
