Mangaluru Oct 7: At the phone-in programme on Friday October 7, callers drew attention to the Ganja business in the city.

Police Commissioner T R Suresh stressed the need to restrain it.

"We do not need any assurance but results, in restraining ganja activities," said a caller during the phone-in programme.

"The police takes this issue very seriously and are trying our level best to restrain ganja trade in the city," replied Police Commissioner T R Suresh.

Complaint also received on Cow smuggling at Moodabidire where six persons were directly involved in cow smuggling.

A complaint was made about the sound system at the Mulki-Kurnada religious centre that was quite loud and disturbed the locals.  
A woman complained about passengers of a bus plying from Statebank to Dambel and Dambel to Mangaldevi, being dropped mid-way, without reaching their destination and that rickshaw drivers were charging an excess of Rs 10  over the actual fare.  

Police commissioner T R Suresh said that the issue would be addressed at the earliest.

"Ambulance must be cross-checked whether they are carrying patients or not, as they are seen using sirens during the evening and it is suspicious that they are misusing it," said a complainant. The police Commissioner ordered concerned officials to cross check ambulances.

The commissioner also ordered concerned officials to prepare certain guidelines and install CCTV cameras in school buses for children's safety.

Police Commissioner received 30 phone calls during 59th phone-in programme .

DCP crime and traffic Uma Prashanth, ACP traffic Tilakchandra, ACP Valentine D'Souza, traffic PI Suresh Kumar and others were present.
