Moodbidri: Student drowns while swimming in pond

Moodbidri, Oct 8: A student of a school here, who had entered a pond near the paper mill at Prantya village here on Saturday October 7, unfortunately drowned.

The deceased has been identified as Sahil (11), son of Sadiq, a fish vendor and resident of Suvarna Nagara here. The family of Sahil a sixth standard student, resides in a rented home. Sahil had accompanied two other schoolmates to the said pond for swimming after school hours.

It is said that Sahil drowned as he had no prior experience in swimming. His friends who could not save him informed the parents. After a complaint was received, the town police went to the spot and inspected the scenario.
