Bengaluru, Oct 8: A day after former BJP MLC BJ Puttaswamy, who is a close confidante of State BJP President B S Yeddyurappa, levelled charges of alleged land scam against his son Dr Yathidra, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah dismissed the allegations as "totally baseless and politically motivated."

"These people want to come up with concocted stories with the mistaken belief that some of the mud will stick the more mud they throw," he said and indicated that he has asked his son to file a defamation case against Puttaswamy.

"What is the relation between approving land for Shanta Industries by Bengaluru Development Authority and my son?," the Chie Minister asked.

Answering questions from reporters during his visit to Mysuru, he said: "Even though there is no connection, there are levelling false allegations."

He said the people of Karnataka know very well as to what happened and who are facing corruption charges and even went to jail.

Siddaramaiah said the assembly polls were nearing and the BJP was making such baseless allegations.

The Chief Minister said now it is Puttaswamy’s turn to come up with these baseless charges and a few days ago, it was Shobha Karandlaje, who had done the same.

He asked the BJP as to what happened to their promise of revealing documentary evidence against several ministers, which Yeddyurappa had proudly proclaimed.

"Let them not fool the people. They can see through BJP’s games," he said.

On the issue of former BJP MP Vijay Shankar joining the Congress, the Chief Minister said he had no information.
