Mangaluru, Oct 9: City mayor Kavitha Sanil with other Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) personnel raided a residential apartment complex at Maryhill on Monday, October 9, after she received several complaints from the neighboring residents on release of sewage into open.

At around 3:30 pm, the mayor raided 'Vailankanni Abode' of Vishal Enterprises Builders & Developers. Residents around the vicinity had earlier complained about sewage being released into open area at 3 am every day which emitted bad smell all around the place.

To the shock of the mayor, it was revealed that the builder had only acquired a license for construction. The builder had neither acquired the completion certificate nor the door numbers. He had continued using the water and electricity which he had used during the time of construction. Added to that, out of the 24 apartments, only ten of them were occupied by owners, while the others were occupied by families whom the builder had permitted to stay there on temporary basis till his other apartments were completed.

Taking swift action, the mayor, disconnected the water supply to the building. She also reprimanded MCC officials for not taking action even after receiving several complaints.

The mayor also said that the builder will be directed to pay a fine of four years for misuse of water and electricity supply and for breaking corporation rules. She also directed the officials to take action against the builder and to stop all construction work of his company.

Residents living in the building complained to the mayor that their repeated calls to the builder demanding door numbers have been ignored from a long time.

Good job done. But there may be so many such buildings violating the norms, i don't think there is any sort of control or verification mechanism whatsoever. When such huge buildings are constructed it is surprising that it goes un-noticed by local authorities till its completion and possession. Powerful builders may b " taking care " such things. Local authorities must work in the interest of consumers not builders.

Why do they issue door numbers to houses/flats without a completion certificate ?
If that is made strict no builders will dare to have any violations.
Loop holes in the system is the reason for all the misuse.

    Solution for this problem is:

Registration of apartment should be allowed once they get door numbers and completion certificates only.....

But from Central Government to Corporation office all are chors..... they cant bring such laws....

All politicians are getting benefits from real estate mafias....

Well done Mayor. We got the mayor of this stature for the first time.Strike the iron, when it is hot-saying goes like this. Our iron lady, Mangalore Singham Kavita Sanil-MCC Mayor is doing the right thing at the right time and at the right places. Her bold steps to curb illegal activities within her MCC limit in the city is highly appreciated, lauded and commended. We need such a bold lady to stop all these unwanted, illegal activities carried out by the law breakers in the city within the jurisdiction of MCC.
But only worry is that political parties, court should not interfere and poke their nose in between and trouble her by using their influence in her movements. Public also should help and co-operate and join their hands with her in order to accomplish her mission. Earlier all the mayors were safeguarding their own cushion seat without doing any positive, concrete jobs and simply enjoying their salary.
But this iron lady is entirely different and unique. One must appreciate her daring and bold steps being taken to weed out all the illegal activities in the city. May God give her enough strength, wisdom, courage to do something good for the people before her tenure expires. God bless her. No matter which party you belong to, do well to the people and leave rest to the God. He is supreme. One day you will be rewarded for your noble service. Your present post is not permanent and not being remembered but your good works and sincereity, honesty will be remembered for ever. Working under bureaucratic pressure is difficult but Keep it up. Hats off to you Madam.

Even if you don't pay the bills no problem, but pay the commission in advance or else face the action.
When does the bad shaped roads getting repaired in the city?
These roads does not belongs to MCC OR DISTRICT OR STATE OR COUNTRY?
Do we need to complain to UN?

As it happened in earlier Parlour rides... Trust this time it will not happen. Very very well done. If you really look for, you will have a lot of such buildings in and around Mangalore.
