Chamarajanagar, Oct 10: In an incident which happened near Vadgal Rangaswamy temple on the road to Male Mahadeshwara Hills in the district on Sunday October 8, a man killed the daughter of his elder sister. He was angry at the fact that the girl had spurned his desire to marry her.

Krupa Merilian (19), native of Vaddaradoddi falling in the jurisdiction of Ramapur police station was the victim of this incident. She was a student of St Joseph College, Bengaluru. Her maternal uncle, Periyanayagan, used to approach her often to repeat his request to marry him. The girl had stoutly rejected his proposals. It is said that there been fights within the family on lthis issue.

Three days back, Periyanayagan took the girl away after convincing her to accompany him for the trip to Male Mahadeshwara Hill. This was done without the knowledge of the family. On the way to the hill, he killed the girl by dropping a boulder on her head near Rangaswamy Vaddu.

On Monday morning, mother of the girl, Arogyamma, filed missing complaint about her daughter in Ramapur police station. The police, who found the body of the girl on the basis of cellphone location, have arrested Periyanagan.
