Jeddah, Jun 14: KNRI, a forum for NRIs hailing from Karnataka will organize a cultural evening on Thursday June 19 at Lora Village here. About 1,200 people from India and other nations are expected to attend the event.

KNRI forum is a Jeddah-based voluntary, non-profit organization formed by NRIs hailing from Karnataka. The forum was formally inaugurated by the consul general of India Dr Ausaf Saeed on April 24, 2007.

The forum was formed with the primary objectives of providing help and support services to the needy Kannadigas working and living in KSA and in Karnataka.

It also aims to provide financial support to the talented but deprived Kannadiga students by providing loans for pursuing higher education, thus helping them become a contributing member of the society.

It also organizes blood donation camps in Karnataka and free medical check-ups for the underprivileged back home and for those who are not covered under medical insurance in the KSA.

Voluntary members of the forum include doctors, engineers, chartered accountants, businessmen, educationists and other professionals.

Though belated, it is a good start. While hoping Kannadigas in large number throughout Saudi Arabia join KNIR Forum, I wish the Forum all the best and hope they would stand up to the aims and objectives laid down by the Forum. Good luck.
