New Delhi: Man assaulted with knives; pet dog comes to rescue

New Delhi, Oct 16 (PTI): A civic agency employee, who was attacked by a group of unidentified men with knives, was saved by his pet dog that pounced on the tormentors of its owner in outer Delhi's Mangolpuri area, police said today.

58-year-old Rakesh was feeding his dog Tyson outside his house last evening when four to five men attacked him with knives, they said.

Tyson pounced on them, injuring them brutally. The group also attacked the dog with knives. But Tyson kept fighting them and the gang fled the spot, police said.

Meanwhile, Rakesh's family members were alerted by the commotion and came outside the house.

Both the man and his dog were given medical attention, they said.

The police added that the culprits have been identified and efforts are on to trace them.

No one has any doubt on that, but cruel human beings don't have any sympathies for street dogs, they poison them, hurt them, drive over them deliberately, and don't even bother to treat them in case of an accident. And the poor creature has to spend the rest of its life without a leg, limping and searching for food. May be humans think only they have rights to survive on this earth not any other creature.

@karthik karkera ,mangalore.here it was not a street dog but a petdog.Streetdogs too attack people suppose someone attack them or hurt. They are not trimmed,,left back by people who dont have a heart for animals, and they multiply without hindernis when not controlled. Here one thing people keep in mind.First dont attack either his master or go near the hungry dog when fed.He will attack everyone first his attacker ,second even his master suppose he makes him angry. No good time for attackers when feeding .He defended his master.Very good .they should have chosen a different time .But good for his master. One shouldnt feed street dogs ,otherwise they get the habit of attacking people suppose when not fed. They will become wild. One cant avoid sometimes wild running around.Muncipality should take right measurements to control their breed.
