Why just Taj, demolish Rashtrapati Bhavan, parl house: Azam

Rampur, Oct 17 (PTI): Monuments such as the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the Parliament House and the Red Fort should be demolished as they too are "symbols of slavery" just as the Taj Mahal, Samajwadi Party general secretary Azam Khan has said.

The SP MLA's remarks last night came in response to BJP MLA Sangeet Som's comments questioning the Taj Mahal's place in India's heritage. Som had said history would be rewritten to erase Mughal emperors from it.

"I have always held the view that all symbols of slavery should be erased. Why only Taj Mahal? Why not Parliament, Rashtrapati Bhavan, Qutub Minar and Red Fort? These are all symbols of slavery," Khan told the media.

The former UP minister said that if the BJP and Som are adamant about not accepting that the Taj Mahal is a legacy of India, then the BJP MLA along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath should come forward to demolish the monument.

He also lashed out at BJP leaders for not following up on their words with actions.

Aurangzeb had forty-nine years to make good on his princely promise of cultivating religious tolerance in the Mughal Empire, and he got off to a strong start.
In one of his early acts as emperor, Aurangzeb issued an imperial order (farman) to local Mughal officials at Benares that directed them to halt any interference in the affairs of local temples.
in the ninth year of his reign Aurangzeb dispensed a farman to the Umanand Temple at Guwahati in Assam, confirming an earlier land grant and the associated right to collect revenue. In 1680 he directed that Bhagwant Gosain, a Hindu ascetic who lived on the banks of the Ganges in Benares, should be kept free from harassment.
In 1687, the emperor gave some empty land on a ghat in Benares (which was, incidentally, near a mosque) to Ramjivan Gosain in order to build houses for “pious Brahmins and holy faqirs.” In 1691 Aurangzeb conferred eight villages and a sizable chunk of tax-free land on Mahant Balak Das Nirvani of Chitrakoot to support the Balaji Temple. In 1698 he gifted rent-free land to a Brahmin named Rang Bhatt, son of Nek Bhatt, in eastern Khandesh in central India. The list goes on and includes temples and individuals in Allahabad, Vrindavan, Bihar, and elsewhere.Again following Akbar’s example, Aurangzeb granted land at Shatrunjaya, Girnar, and Mount Abu—all Jain pilgrimage destinations in Gujarat—to specific Jain communities in the late 1650s. He gave Lal Vijay, a Jain monk, a monastery (poshala), probably sometime before 1681, and granted relief for a resting house (upashraya) in 1679.
The BJP history books are teaching new India invaders are responsible for demolition of Hindu temples.
In reality RSS political wing BJP is worst than the invaders. At Least colonial British left us some good railway network.
Other than 'Bullet train' which is running on virtual track only real 'bullets' are ridding journalist Gauri Lankesh, Kalburgi, Pansere and on.

Either by default or by design, The BJP leaders keep courting contraversaries may be to divert the attention of the people from the burning issues facing the nation. Wiht nothing to show case their achievements for the last three years, raising non issues seem to be the pass time of the BJP. There is neither any control or Acoontability in the BJP.

In Europe and other parts of the world, the people and government are proud of their ancient monuments, buildings and structures. They show the visitors and tourists with pride. Our shameless leaders who are unable to build basic toilets for the poor, are scrambling around talking nonsense. This is incredible India. Why did they name VT Station in Mumbai as CST. It was built by the Looters.
