Udupi, Jun 16: Sathish (22) and Dinesh (24) from Koppalangadi-Ramnagar and Yuvraj(28) from Udyavar-Kutpady have been arrested by the Kaup police. These three were arrested the police in connection with the assault and destruction of property that took place at Udaya Food and Beverages in Kaup on Friday June 13. The accused were presented in the court on Sunday evening.

A gang of more than 30 persons had attaked the above concern on Friday, breaking the window glasses, destroying the industrial products and inflicting damage to a Maruti car parked there, apart from assaulting the partners and employees of the said business concern.

State home minister Dr V S Acharya who had visited the spot, had instructed the concerned to trace the culprits behind the incident and initiate legal proceedings against them at the earliest. Policemen under the leadership of Kaup circle inspector Vinay Naik have been actively pursuing the matter and making efforts to nab those responsible for the incident.

Sathish and Dinesh have complained to the police that people from Uday Food beverages had hurled caste-based derogatory remarks at them apart from assaulting them.These two were taken into custory from Udupi Ajjarkad hospital where they had got admitted.
