Noida, Oct 20 (IANS): A 13-year-old girl met a gruesome end here on Friday when she tripped and fell into a hot mix plant used to construct a road and died within minutes, police said.
The incident took place in the city's Chhajarsi area. The girl, identified as Gunjan, had gone out to collect some dung for Govardhan Puja, observed on the next day of Diwali, when she slipped and fell into the plant.
Angry locals, family members of the deceased staged a sit-in on the accident site and demanded immediate action against the owner of the road mix plant, which was later found to be illegal.
Senior police and district officials rushed to the scene to pacify the irate mob.
The City Magistrate has ordered seizure of the plant and an FIR has been lodged against the owner, who is on the run.
