Bangalore, Jun 17: The Karnataka government on Tuesday rejected the Opposition parties' demand for a CBI investigation into the death of Padmapriya, wife of BJP MLA B Raghupathy Bhat "There is no need for a CBI probe", State Home Minister Dr V S Acharya, told reporters here.

The state police was investigating the issue, he said and asserted there was no compulsion on the government to "cover up" the case.

Padmapriya, a mother of two, went missing from Udupi on June 10 under mysterious circumstances and she was found dead in an apartment in Delhi on June 15.

The Opposition Congress and JDS have been demanding that the government refer the matter to the CBI and also demanded State Home Minister's resignation. The state unit Youth Congress on Tuesday staged a protest in support of the party's demands.

In India, with lot of political interference, it is very difficult to get to know the truth and it is unlikely that we can give justice to Padmapriya, her kids and to her parents/siblings. But I remind you that the culprits who are responsible for her death cannot escape the wrath of the most powerful God. Karma decides their dwelling place as Heaven or Hell. CBI or COD has not done miracles all these years and we dont expect miracles from them in this case too. Leave it to nature to decide.

Central govt has to interfere in this case and case should be handed over to CBI. One thing is clear in this case that home minister is saving the culprit....and police enquiry is only to build up a new story combining all this dramas because Home minister already given the direction how investigaton should proceed by saying in a single word its a suicide...... How can we expect justice if the head of investigation team is a/with culprit

I find this ridiculous. CBI is India top most investigative agency and its role is to get involved with cases involving National issues, National security, Big financial scams , Terrorist activities etc. It has become a fashion to ask for CBI investigation for everything.

If this trend continues then we will have to close down the Karnataka Police force and ask CBI to investigate everything. My sympathies are with Padmapriya's family and we should trust the Delhi police and allow them to complete the investigation. Remember she is supposed to have committed suicide in Delhi and the National Capital is not under BJP rule.

I only hope people stop speculating and respect the family's privacy. It looks like a case of Marital discord between husband and wife for whatever reasons and someone has taken advantage of this situation leading to this Tragic incident.

SHAME SHAME on Acharya and Bhat - because of them one innocent life is gone (Padmapriya) and now they are blaming the Good Samaritan Atul Kumar and have ruined his and his family's life. This case has to be investigated. Padmapriya died a restless and unhappy death and she will always haunt Bhat day and night.

Sad to hear about the untimely demise of Mrs. Padmapriya Bhat.Heartfelt condolences to both families.Padmapriya's parents and sibblings must have definitely known what was happening in the Bhat household. They must have kept quiet because their son-in-law is a politician.

Padmapriya must have been supporting her family. The pictures of her family shown on Tv seems like as though they are hiding something out of fear.Fear of what we do not know.Padmapriya's children are orphaned.Nobody knows the actual facts except for Mr.Bhat.

This case should be handed over to the CBI.Why is'nt the Karnataka government agreeing for it.Is it because Mr.Bhat is a BJP man. What are they trying to hide? If there is nothing let the CBI take over and prove that there was no foul play but just suicide.

But who drove her to take such a step,if she has done so.Punish the person,no matter who he is.All marriages have its ups and downs.Nobody's is a fairytale kind of marriage.issues should be tackled amicably especially when there are kids.I am sure that Mr.BHat could have settled this issue well.Being a politician how can he serve the state if he cannot solve an issue of this sort.CBI investgation should be done.
