Mangaluru, Oct 24: Two young men seated on a motor bike snatched Karimani chain worn around her neck by a woman inside a shop at Pachchanadi in the city. The images of the fleeing thieves were captured by CCTV camera.

At around 4.45 pm on Monday, two men came near the shop operated by Surekha (33), who was alone inside the shop at that time. One of the youth continued to be seated on the bike a little ahead of the shop while the other entered the shop and sought to buy a cigarette. He also sought match box to light the cigarette. He began to smoke and then asked for chocolate. As soon as Surekha bent to pick the chocolates, he snatched away the Karimani gold chain she was wearing, and escaped in the motor bike waiting for him. As the woman raised an alarm, the thieves rushed towards Padavinangady. The value of the chain, said to be weighing two and half sovereigns, is stated to be Rs 60,000.

The images of the fleeing thieves were captured by the CCTV camera of Goddess Chamundeshwari temple at Pachchanadi. Police personnel of rural station here visited the spot and conducted spot inspection. They obtained details of the incident from the woman and collected CCTV records. A case was registered in rural police station here.

The police have requested people who are able to identify the culprits to contact city rural station or office of the police commissioner here.
