Bengaluru, Oct 26: Exposing loopholes in the collegiate system proved expensive for a senior IAS officer, who was recently  transferred from the State Department of Collegiate Education in an unceremonious manner. The said officer, in an attempt to resolve the matter, wrote to the chief secretary on Tuesday, October 24.

Former commissioner for Department of Collegiate Education, Ajay Nagabhushan, is the said officer who was transferred as commissioner of Cane Development and director of Sugar, on Tuesday, October 17.

According to a reliable source from the chief secretary's office, the transfer was ordered after the officer did not yield to pressure from higher authorities to give piece tenders instead of global one, for the purchase of laptops that were to be distributed to undergraduate students, free of cost.

The officer brought to the notice of the higher authorities, the massive extra expenditure to the state exchequer if the laptops were to be bought by the piece tender method.

Additionally, the officer also highlighted the illegal release of funds for the construction of Ambedkar School of Economics. Even before approving the school, the higher authorities asked the Education Department to release the funds.

It may be recalled that State Higher Education Minister, Basavaraja Rayareddy had spoken harshly in public of the same officer a few weeks ago.

Chief secretary Subhash Chandra Khuntia is investigating both the issues highlighted by Ajay Nagabhushan.
