Puttur, Jun 20: Ex-president of Puttur Agricultural Produce Market Committee(APMC) Banari Gopalakrishna Bhat, who was ousted from the post a couple of days ago through a no-confidence motion, spit venom against the BJP leadaers including D V Sadanand Gowda(DVS) at a press conference held here on Thursday June 19.
"Since the era of the erstwhile Janasangh, I worked in the Sangh Parivar. Besides working for the victory of the BJP in various elections, I won two state awards when being the Puttur taluk panchayat president. DVS was a novice when he entered politics. I took him around in my car, lent him money when he requested and made him a legislator. Shobha Karandlaje had been pestering me to give her LIC policies. Now these people have become state leaders, while I have become a nobody because of political vendetta launched by a group led by DVS because I supported Shakuntala Shetty and also because of my caste," Banari stated painfully.
DVS failed to execute the trade shift, but it was achieved within a month of Banari taking charge of APMC. The caucus led by DVS is damaging the BJP. While speaking about the allegations that he had illegally collected money for Math, he said that collecting funds for Ramchandrapur Math was not crime. Even DVS and other BJP leaders have been collecting funds for various reasons, he argued. "I can never identify myself with this party after the humiliation I have suffered," he declared.
