Mangaluru: Ganja consumption - Kadri police arrest three

Mangaluru, Oct 29: Kadri police from the city, who conducted operations at Jogi Math in the city, Balmatta Shanti Nilaya and KPT, arrested three persons on the allegation of ganja consumption on Saturday October 28.

The arrested people were Rakesh (25), residing at labour colony, Shaktinagara, Tilak (20) from Preetinagara in Shaktinagara and Kartik (25) from Kulshekar.

The Kadri police were on their rounds when they saw that a youth, later identified as Rakeh, was smoking a cigarette in a public place. When they approached him, he threw away the cigarette held by him. When the police questioned him, he stammered and the personnel could smell ganja in his mouth. They questioned him further, after which Rakesh confessed that he had inserted ganja inside his cigarette. He was taken into custody and subjected to medical tests, which confirmed that he had consumed ganja.

The police, who got information that a youth was consuming ganja near Jogi Math here, raided the spot. They took Tilak from near Jogi Math and Kartik from near KPT and questioned them. Both confessed to have consumed ganja, police personnel stated. Tests conducted on them too proved that they had consumed ganja.

Cases under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act have been registered against all three. Investigation is continuing.
