Udupi: 'Run for Unity' organised to commemorate Sardar Patel’s birth anniversary

Udupi, Nov 1: The district administration and district police department organised 'Run for Unity' to commemorate the 142nd birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on Tuesday, October 31.

District superintendent of police Sanjiv Patil, who flagged off the run said, “It is important to recall the achievements of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who contributed a lot for the freedom of the nation and unity of India.”



The district police officers and officers of different departments and public belonging to all age groups participated in the run which commenced from Mahatma Gandhi Stadium at 7.30 am and culminated at town hall Ajjarkad.

Central government observes October 31 all over the country as a day to foster and reinforce the government’s dedication to preserve and strengthen unity, integrity and security of the nation by celebrating it as ’Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
