Kundapura: Dacoits attempt to loot naxal active Hallihole

Kundapura, Nov 1: Two dacoits tried to loot the house of agriculturist Srikanta Kannantha at Hallihole, where the naxals are active, on the night of Monday, October 30.

The assailants, who were wearing monkey caps, entered the house and threatened Srikanta with a knife and then stuffed cloth in his mouth. When Vidyavathi, wife of Srikanta, saw the attack, she came to the rescue of her husband and met the same fate. Then the attackers fled from the spot.

The exact reason for the attack is not known as the attackers did not take any valuables from the house. A case stands registered in this regard at Shankaranarayana police station.
