Mangaluru, Nov 2: “It will be equivalent to respecting mother tongue if suitable environment is created and employment opportunities are increased for Kannadigas to live during globalization,” said Expert Pre-university college principal Prof Ramachandra Bhat.
He was speaking after presiding over Karnataka Rajyotsava programme held under the aegis of Expert Pre University College. “Kannada cannot be brightened only by speaking in it. Providing basic necessities among Kannadigas who rely on Kannada language also is essential. Kannada literature has unique concepts, thinking and values. We should try to make them reach young minds. Students should show their capacity by securing highest marks in Kannada. Instead of saying in which medium we studied, we should ask ourselves how far we have succeeded in facing challenges during globalization,” he said.
“The celebrations during Karnataka Rajyotsava are equal to the celebrations during our mother's birthday. While our mother gives us our body, Kannada gave us a personality to this body,” said Kannada department head Karunaker Balkur.
“We should never forget the teachers who taught us about the state, mother tongue, religion and motherland. We have become a model in the world for language, feelings, values, peace and patience. We are fortunate to have born in the land of Kannada. The flag of Kannada will fly high if we preserve our tradition and self confidence,” he said.
Programme organizer Sukanya Sampat Mada, Vidya Mohan, chemistry department head Manoj Shanbhog and biology department professor Vijeth Nayak were present.
Niriksha, first year PUC student welcomed the gathering and compered the programme.
Poetry recital programme was held for students. First PU students Akshata, Shreya and Sneha won prizes. Students sang poems written by Kuvempu as part of the celebrations.
