India will very soon approach Malaysia for extradition of Zakir Naik: MEA

New Delhi, Nov 3 (PTI): India will "very soon" make a request to Malaysia for the extradition of Zakir Naik, charged by the NIA for radicalising youth, the external affairs ministry said on Friday, amidst reports that the hardline Islamic preacher was there after being given permanent residency.

Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Raveesh Kumar also said India's internal legal process before approaching a foreign country with an extradition request was nearing completion in the case of Naik.

Asked about reports that Naik has been given permanent residency by Malayasia, which maintained that it has not received any official request from India related to terrorism allegations involving the preacher, Kumar said, "Our legal process is nearing completion and we will be making an extradition request very soon."

According to media reports, Naik obtained permanent residency five years ago.

Kumar also said that the nature of the extradition request will be known in next few days.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has charged Naik and the Mumbai-based non-profit Islamic Research Foundation (IRF) that he founded in 1991 with indulging in unlawful activities and promoting religious hatred.

The government has imposed a five-year ban on the IRF under the country's anti-terror laws and has declared Naik an absconder.

I remember a speech of Zakir Niak where he had clearly said that a Muslim can not kill a person of other religion just because the people of other religion had killed Muslims.

I also remember some politicians' statement after 2002 Gujarat riots that- " Every action has opposite reaction" - Applying Newton's Third Law of Motion to human lives. (Advocating/ justifying Killing of human being as a retaliation to Killing of other human being?)

Any sensible person can decide about who are terrorists now.

He has no control over his tongue. He was a bit arrogance when he speaks. That proved him costly. One thing is sure that he doesent support terrorism. In many kf his talks he only says isis is anti islamic. Enemy of islam.

Zakir Naik is a hate monger, who uses 7th century laws as a pretext to perpetuate hate crimes and terrorism, I have seen most of his videos he only preaches hatred towards other religions and tries to make Muslims more orthodox and extremists . His teachings have impacted liberal Muslims also to become orthodox and extremists and hence some of them have gone further and taken arms .

I don't know much about Zakir , but as for innocent people taking to their heels, can you tell why Baba Ramdev ran away from Ramleela on woman's attire? Why Dr Swamy fled the country in the guise of a sardar during emergency?

If the (BJP) government succeeds in bringing him back and puts him in jail, then this will be a great feather in their cap and I will concur with them that they are indeed tough on crime, and they truly believe in communal peace and harmony.

And for those ZN supporters, remember the golden rule TREAT PEOPLE, THE WAY YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE TREATED.
