Landmines kill 8 civilians in Oct in Libya's Benghazi

Tripoli, Nov 5 (IANS): Landmines planted by terrorist groups in the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi killed eight civilians and injured 11 others in October, Benghazi hospital said.

The hospital said in a statement that the statistics were from the areas of Sabri and the city centre, where the remaining militants are stationed, Xinhua news agency reported.

"The victims include two Palestinians and an Egyptian national," said the statement.

Benghazi, Libya's second largest city and the birthplace of the 2011 uprising that toppled former leader Muammar Gaddaf, has witnessed a three-year war between the army led by General Khalifa Haftar and extremist groups.
