Kasargod, Nov 7: After a verbal spat broke out between CPM and BJP workers on Sunday November 5 during the Keralotsava programme organized by Karadka block panchayat near Mulleria, the situation turned ugly when it gave rise to a physical fight. Six persons were injured in the incident, and window panes of BJP office were shattered.

Lakshmidhara (22) and Lathish (24) both BJP activists from Kuntaru were admitted into a private hospital in Puttur. Two other BJP workers, Yashwant (28) and Nayan Kumar (24), were admitted into the general hospital in the town. Two CPM woerkers, Charan Raj (21) and Gopinath (28), were admitted into the cooperative hospital, Chengala for treatment of injuries.

Competitions connected with Keralotsava celebrations had been held at Adur Government Higher Secondary School. During this event, a verbal exchange had occurred between the young men. Thereafter, BJP workers, Lakshmidhara and Laltish, were attacked. In the evening, this incident gave rise to dispute again, after which two others were attacked, BJP has said. It is also said that CPM workers pelted stones at BJP office at night, and that they also threw the flag mast near the BJP office into a well.

CPM stated on its part that its workers, Charanraj and Gopinath, who were travelling by motor bike at 9.30 pm were stopped near Ishwaramangala by a ten-member crowd which then beat them up.
