Bantwal, Nov 14: The timely presence of mind of a health worker and an ambulance driver saved the lives of a pregnant woman and her newborn in an incident which took place on Monday, November 13.

Neela, wife of Krishna, a resident of Sudemogeru in Beltangady taluk had been admitted to community health clinic of Beltangady on November 13 for delivery. As she developed some complications, the doctors at the center advised her to be taken to Lady Goschen hospital at Mangaluru.

As the 108 ambulance, in which Neela was being carried, reached Kallimar near BC Road, the pregnant woman developed severe labour pain. Immediately Jagannath Shetty, driver of the ambulance, parked the vehicle by the roadside. Komala, health worker, who was accompanying Neela in the ambulance, did the delivery safely and took the woman and newborn to Mangaluru.

Because of the agitation of doctors in private hospital, the pregnant woman could not be admitted to a private hospital. The timely humanitarian act of the driver and health worker has been lauded by the public.

Congratulations to the team that helped in time to a safe delivery.May God bless them, and newborn and the mother.I dont understand when the woman delivered normal, what did they first found complications?Anyway God is great and she delivered without complications. It is a very critical condition when woman s condition starts to be critical to transfer from one place to another ,specially from Bantwal to mangalore,is a Herculas job because of heavy traffic, and time.It can cost life.Thats why better Govt should make arrangements in Bantwal area ,full advanced treatment to get to Pregnent women.without further transfers.
