Mamata Banerjee govt to distribute cows ahead of panchayat polls in West Bengal

Kolkata, Nov 15 (Zee News): The Mamata Banerjee government will soon be distributing cows among families living in panchayat areas across West Bengal. The decision was announced ahead of rural elections are scheduled to be held next year.

The government is claiming that the project will make the families self-reliant and increase milk production in the state. "The state government has decided to distribute cows to families residing in the panchayat areas of the districts. We want those families to be self-reliant," Animal Resources Development Minister Swapan Debnath said.

Distribution of cows will begin soon and the process is expected to be completed in the next couple of months.

"We are hopeful that through the distribution of cows we will be able to enhance milk production. That is the reason we have decided to distribute female calves," the minister said.

Claiming that during the current government's tenure, milk production in the state has gone up by 16 per cent as compared to what it was during the Left Front rule, he said, "there is still shortfall and we want to overcome it," Debnath said.

The minister, however, added that the decision has nothing to do with the panchayat elections.

As per the decision, each family will get one cow. The distribution of cows would start with Birbhum district where the state government has set an initial target of giving away 1,000 cows.

This is my sincere question. See, politicians promise saree, television, laptop and many other items, which are man made and can be ordered. But, when they promise cows in tens of thousands and Baba Ramdeo is going to have a gaushala with 10,000 cows, question arises, where do they get so many young cows ?

In BJP ruled Rajasthan Ummar (35), a dairy farmer, was shot dead on Friday and later thrown on the railway tracks looks like accident only to be found in a decapitated state at an Alwar mortuary.Ummar (35), a dairy farmer, was shot dead on Friday and later thrown on the railway tracks only to be found in a decapitated state at an Alwar mortuary. This is just after months Pehlu can another diary farmer from Haryana was attacked by 'Gauathakwandi's'.
“These people are just dressed as Gau Rakshaks, but in reality they are nothing but goons. Each cow costs nothing less than Rs 12,000 and these Gau Rakshaks attack and kill those who are transporting the cows and then take these animals to another buyer who would pay anything above Rs 20,000.
Pehlu Khan lynching case clean chit to all six accused named in his dying declaration. Tha 15 of those accused of the September 2015 lynching of Muhammad Akhlaq in Bishahra village of Dadri over suspicion of storing beef in his house have landed contractual jobs with NTPC Limited, the public sector company facilitated the recruitment BJP MLA Tejpal Nagar said the accused were “innocents” and that they deserved a “better deal”.
If this is the reality of the BJP ruled states in addition to 8,000 cows died of hunger in Rajasthan, Bengal Chief Minister offer to poor with source of earning is appreciable. But her government need to be more vigilant as BJP is expanding its footprint may kill some of this agrarian animals to put blame on her party.
BJP which is against 'Pink revolution' citing falling agrarian animals in the last Lok Sabha election has made number one beef exporters. But Mamata move for his state citizens is appreciable. Instead of Television, laptops, cycle, grinders parties should offer source of income with falling economy.
