Mangaluru, Nov 16: With the co-operation of the parents and hard work of the teachers and children, the management of Carmel School on November 14 organized their annual sports meet 2017 – 18.
The day was packed with fervor and excitement witnessed amidst thrills, shrills and cheers.
The president for the day was Sr Ida Barboza AC, secretary Apostolic Carmel Educational Society, Karanataka Province and chief guest was C P Jayanth, retired bank Officer of State Bank of India, in the city.
The day started off with a red carpet welcome to the school's dignitaries and to the management committee members. This was followed by salutations to the Lord Almighty in the form of a prayer dance. A highly competitive march past by classes VI to X vying for first place was next in line.
The highlight of the day was the lighting of the torch which was handed over by Preethal, the national athletic champion along with the representatives Ishika P Salian, Vaishnavi, Shravya who will be participating in the national level athletic events at Chattisgarh.
The audience then witnessed the drill display of classes I to V.
The president in her address encouraged the students in their march past and appreciated them for their punctuality and their interest in sports activities.
The sports events of the day saw all the students actively participating in various sports events with full sportsmanship.
Sr Venitha brought the inaugural programme to a close wit the vote of thanks. The progrmme was compered by Sonia Rodrigues and student Swarna Kamath. Sr Sarika the principal welcomed the gathering.
The valedictory function was held at 3.15 pm. Sr Edna Furtado AC was the president and Sr Maria Kripa AC was the chief guest.
The president in her speech emphasized the importance of sports for students. She said that active participation in sports inculcates discipline and punctuality.
This was followed by the prize distribution. Individual champions of classes II and X were presented. The programme was compered by Twinkle. Amitha Kumari proposed the vote of thanks.
The president brought the eventful day to a close by lowering the school flag and the chief guest switched off the torch.
The end of the day's happy events brought smiles on the students and filled them with a sense of sportsmanship, enthusiasm and memories to cherish.
