Lucknow: Woman asked to remove burqa at CM Yogi Adityanath rally, police to investigate

Lucknow, Nov 22 (TOI): Uttar Pradesh police said today they will investigate an incident caught on tape which appears to show police in Balia asking a woman to remove her burqa yesterday at an event attended by state chief minister Adityanath, reported ANI.

"I have not been informed of any incident where a woman was asked to take off her burqa. However, everyone had the instructions to see that no one shows black cloth to Yogi ji (Adityanath). Whatever you are mentioning will be probed and action will be taken," said SP Anil Kumar from Balia, to ANI.

In a widely circulated video clip yesterday, a police officer is seen apparently asking a woman attending Adityanath's rally to remove her black-coloured veil. The veiled woman is seen struggling to remove the black-coloured garment without exposing her head, after which she covers her head with a cream-coloured cloth. The Incident in Balia occurred after an earlier one in Meerut on Saturday, when a group of young men displayed black flags at a rally attended by the chief minister. At least it explains today's comment by the police about "instructions to see that no one shows black cloth to Yogi ji (Adityanath)".

The Meerut incident took place when BJP UP president Mahendra Nath Pandey was highlighting his party's achievements during a civic poll rally attended by Adityanath. As soon as some youths showed black flags to the CM, BJP activists swung into action and pulled the youngsters out of the Ramlila Maidan and reportedly thrashed them.

It is surprising that people living in glass houses are throwing stones at other houses. A protest is a protest and nobody should force anyone not to protest. This same party supporters showed black flags to leaders of other parties and they don't want it to happen to themselves, this is ridicules. What you do to others will be done to yourselves. first learn to put your house in order then look to keep others houses in order.

Popi kaala. They wants people to dress like bollywood celebrities - hide less, expose more. After all, he is a old bachelor. These are the same people who mocked at Mr. Rahul Gandhi when he commented on ladies wearing shorts.

It was not connected with security but to avoid disrespect or sign of protest.

Shias are with the BJP, that's why we have Naqvi, and before Najma Heptullah as ministers, even Mohsin Raza in UP cabinet is a Shia, BJP removed the ban on Mohurram procession when they ruled UP during 90's , hence they have reciprocated by giving the land for Ram Mandir and agreeing to shift the masjid to a Muslim dominant place in Lucknow. Even Muslim woman have started voting for the BJP due to triple Talaq issue, they will continue to vote as they want more reforms like inheritance, rights in ancestral property etc
