- Offer is for those opting for HCL computers
Mangalore, Jul 2: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL) has launched a “bundled offer” to provide computers and broadband connection at reduced rates in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.
The broadband rates have been brought down to Rs. 199 for 24 months instead of Rs. 250 a month and 10 per cent discount is offered on other tariff plans for those customers who opt to buy HCL computers.
This was announced at a press conference here by in-charge Principal General Manager of Dakshina Kannada Telecom District (which includes Udupi district as well) I. Thirunavakkarasu and HCL regional manager K. Srinath.
BSNL is also offering the new B/B (broadband) Home Plan–125 at reduced rate for those opting for HCL computers. Customers will have to pay normal rates after 24 months irrespective of the plan chosen for broadband, Mr. Thirunavakkarasu said.
More freebies
He said customers availing themselves of the “bundled offer” will save rent of Rs. 60. Besides, there will be no installation charges and no registration fee, Mr. Thirunavakkarasu said.
Computers come with inbuilt ASDL 2+ modems.
Thus customers need not buy broadband modems from BSNL as has been the case with those seeking BSNL broadband connections for their existing computers.
Computers are priced at Rs. 15,550 (Celeron processor), Rs. 23,990 (Intel Dual Core) and Rs. 25,990 (Intel Core 2 Duo).
They all come with DVD writers. Two laptops priced at Rs. 24,900 and Rs. 16,650 are also part of the offer.
Customers can exchange CRT monitors for TFT monitors at prices ranging from Rs. 3,000 to Rs. 8,000 depending on the size.
Mr. Srikanth said the customers may opt for 24-month loan from a private financial institution with which his company has a tie-up but they will have to pay down payment which is equal to about 45 per cent of the cost.
Computers will get free anti-virus, games and songs CDs, he said.
