Modi spreading lies, stooping to low level: Congress

Gandhinagar, Nov 28 (IANS): Senior Congress leader Anand Sharma on Tuesday lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for "spreading lies and telling untruths", and said the Prime Minister has "stooped to his lowest".

Sharma said the Prime Minister during his visit to his home state Gujarat was being emotional in front of the public in order to "run away from real issues" the state was facing. He also said the Prime Minister was playing the caste card by always saying he was born in backward caste.

Addressing the media, the former Minister said, "When he says that Congress is clapping at the release of Hafiz Saeed, he is saying a lie. If the PM can stoop to such a low level, it is shameful for the country. The PM should not be speaking lies."

"It is because the BJP doesn't have any real leader of their own to showcase, they try and grab sometimes Subhas Chandra Bose and sometimes Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Sardar Patel was very much a Congressman and the title of Sardar was given by Mahatma Gandhi."

Asked about the BJP and Narendra Modi saying the Congress was playing caste politics, Sharma said, "It is the Prime Minister who is doing that. India has never seen any Prime Minister who goes around saying that he was born in backward caste. In the history of the country, no other Prime Minister has stooped to such a low level."

He said, "He always speaks untruth and distorts history. Modi hates truth. By raising his voice and speaking lies, he tries to show bravado. If he is so brave, why does he run away from Parliament? Modi has tarnished the image of the country. Whenever he goes abroad, he speaks badly about India. No other Prime Minister could have stooped to such a low."

On Modi's speeches in the poll-bound state, Sharma said: "The Prime Minister is being emotional just to run away from real issues. Why doesn't he speak about real issues than of 'being a son' and all that. Everybody knows he is from Gujarat. Nobody is denying that. But why go on repeating that instead of talking about development if it has really been carried out in the state."

    I am wondering why doesnt Rahul come out and announce what is the formula of reservations he is giving to the patels in gujarat? Because legally its not possible.

    First time in the history of the nation Prime Minister of India running away from the press debate in neutral avenue hesitate to take questions related his own government policies from neutral journalist from International and national media house.
    Ironically, all his public speech is like 'Bournvita quiz contest questions' short answer like Dhokla, Khaya, Piya etc.
    Surprisingly all his rating like Pew, Moody etc comes from USA as if he is President of US rather than Prime Minister of India.
    We are relieved that he is not an astrologer then most of the sooth seekers have already ruined their lives from flawed 'Jathak'.
    We are lucky that he sold only 'GS TEA'.
    In 1973 Jhooth Bole Kauva Kate from movie 'Bobby' made box office hit to this date. If there is any remix for the old version Modiji should better lead singer.

    The government has not waived any loans of big NPA defaulters, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said on Tuesday dismissing rumour that loans of capitalists are being written off by banks. In a blog, Jaitley said that over the last few days, a rumour is being propagated regarding waiver of loans of capitalists by banks. Observing that the time has come for the nation to be apprised of facts in this regard, he said one should ask at whose behest the loans, which have turned NPAs were disbursed between 2008 and 2014 by public sector banks.
    “The public needs to ask the rumour mongers at whose behest or under whose pressure were such loans disbursed. They should also be asked that when these debtors delayed in repayment of their loans and interest thereon to Public Sector Banks, what decision was taken by the then Government,” the finance minister said.
