Demonetisation was a money laundering scheme: Rahul Gandhi

Amreli (Gujarat), Nov 30 (IANS): Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Thursday termed demonetisation a money laundering scheme, and raked up the issue of BJP President Amit Shah's son Jay Shah's company recording massive turnover after the NDA government came to power.

"Demonetisation was implemented suddenly, maybe he did not like the Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes. On November 8, the whole country was standing in line... But did you see any big industrialist from Gujarat in the queue outside banks? Did you see anyone coming in a Mercedes car?" Gandhi said at an election rally here.

"Those who ride Mercedes cars, entered the bank from the back door, and got their black money converted," he said.

"This is the reality of demonetisation. The thieves got their black money laundered and you were left standing in queues," he added.

He also raked up the issue of BJP president Amit Shah's son Jay Shah's company.

"Magically, Amit Shah's son's company converted Rs 50,000 to Rs 80 crore in three months... While anyone would usually run a profit making venture, the company was shut after three months," he said.

He added that the Modi government was avoiding holding the Winter Session of Parliament before the Gujarat elections because they were scared of issues like Jay Shah's company and the Rafale deal being raised.

“Mere pyare deshvasiyon, give me 50 days of pain to deliver the India of your dreams,” said Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 8, “otherwise punish me at the place of your choice” - and most of India was sold to the utopian idea.
The nation went hysteric at the prospect of being able to sacrifice in what they believed was a chance to take part in a "freedom struggle" against the greedy rich.
People lined up outside ATMs and banks, for hours, days; often returning empty handed when machines ran out of cash; the poor hopeful that black money hoarders were going bankrupt, even as corrupt bankers laundered money.
It was, therefore, with great excitement and confidence that the working class and the poor waited for Modi to share details of the black money banks had collected in 50 days. They were sure he was going to lay bare a balance-sheet, including details such as money spent on printing new notes, and how much more time would be required before the withdrawn equivalent currency would be back in the system. People expected life would soon return to normal.
Since one year passed RBI is yet to come up with final balance sheet on 'black money'. PMO and RBI hesitant rejecting RTI and PIL citing silly reasons like risk to life.
Meanwhile former BJP minister Janardhana Reddy who was on bail from jail managed Rs 500 crores extravaganza wedding in the middle of the demonetisation. BJP's master strategist Yash Shah makes 16,000 times profit with minimum capital of Rs 50000 and closes the business. At the same time Party fund raises to Rs800 crores. BJP's Ministers and MLA's who disclosed cash in hand get the crispy new notes without standng in que.
There is some truth in the Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi's comment. Demonetisation is BJP's biggest scam under 'rain coat bath'.

Must have hit close to home, that's why the rant. Common man does not have crores to hoard or keep under the pillow for a rainy day. Only those who avoided the taxman were and are being targeted, few at a time, until the dhobi comes around to wash all the dirty linen.

100% it resulted in money laundering even though purpose of this utterly failed exercise may be different.

Money laundered through jan dhan accounts dhana dhan.
Bankers & their agents made quick money by supplying new notes to their close associates for kickbacks.
2000 rupee note further eased money laundering & bribing.
People who honestly paid taxes & those who declared un accounted income through voluntary declaration of income scheme & paid tax got fooled by this demonetisation.
Cash hoarders, meter interest goons, money lenders, other cash dealers like white collars thugs, caterers, hospitals, medical professionals & others so called professionals minted money by laundering cash & avoiding tax.

Honest citizens lost. Thugs, close associates, professionals minted money in this biggest scam of the century.

The flow of foreign direct investment (FDI) over the last 3 years is in itself a proof. During the period under Modi, the country saw nearly $149 billion (until December 2016) worth of investment from overseas companies. In comparison, under the erstwhile UPA, three years starting 2011-12 witnessed an aggregate flow of $117 billion.

60 years of Congress rule, 60 years of Congress rule, 60 years of Congress rule.............................at any campaign speech repeated by our PM Modi, same copy statement like copy of Modi Xerox. Congress started ruling India when they did not have a proper factory, no proper defence like Army, Airforce, Navy. So many factories, industries, universities etc started during the last 60 years.
This PM now as got everything ready made first time becoming an MP.
Only fooling the innocent middle class citizen's of the country.

Yes, you are right. Those who benefited from Demonetization blunder, none other than ambani, Adani, & industrialists especially Gujjus, & of course kins & kiths of Bjp leaders. What about general public? We suffered a lot. But these suffering will not go in vain. Now people of Gujarat got a golden chance to give a befitting reply to the anti poor government.

In a massive exercise like demo, a few cases might have happened wherin bank staff may have colluded with rich people . Raga is commenting on hindsight. It would be better if Raga supports any drive to flush out the new 2000 rupees as the Bank staff might have most likely given 2000 Rs notes in exchange.

Common man is happy if anti social elements was effected by demonstration. It doesn't looks so,Others like, threatening, bounties for killing has increased!
Who suffered? in reality, common man, small unorganised business men, farm sector, semi literate and illiterate like people suffered.
Has Govt. Treasury benefitted? Printing, shredding and logistics cost would have been far more than insignificant gains! Total failure!
Ruling party, splinter groups, friends and allies must have made unimaginable money.
