6.0-magnitude quake hits Iran


Tehran, Dec 1 (IANS): An earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale jolted Iran on Friday morning, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said.

It occurred at around 6 a.m., and was centred 58 km north-northeast of Kerman city, reports Xinhua news agency.

The epicentre, with a depth of 10 km, was initially determined to be at 30.7652 degrees north latitude and 57.3306 degrees east longitude, according to the USGS.

A 5.0-magnitude aftershock was recorded twelve minutes after the tremor.

There were no immediate reports of any damages or casualties.

On November 12, a 7.3-magnitude earthquake struck an area along Iran's northern border with Iraq, leaving at least 445 people dead and over 7,100 others injured.
