Bangalore: Three MLAs Switch Allegiance to BJP

Daijiworld Media Network—Bangalore (CN)

Bangalore, Jul 6: The most recent development in state politics has two MLAs from JD (S) and one MLA from Congress joining the BJP after resigning their respective legislative assembly memberships on Saturday, July 5.

Shivanagowda Devdurga, and Balachandra Jakiraholi, from the JD (S) and Anand Asnotikar from Congress are the three who joined the ruling party. All of them submitted their resignation to assembly speaker, Jagadeesh Shetter and then held a press conference in the presence of minister Sriramulu.

The three said that they took this decision in order to convert their constituencies into model constituencies. Commenting on this development, JD (S) spokesperson Y S V Dutta said that the BJP had used its money and power to grab these individuals.  This development would negatively impact the BJP in the coming days, he opined.

You are wrong. They are not cheating anyone. All MLA have resigned and have to win again. Peoples will decide their fate. People should clearly understand ground reality first and then talk. Everyting is happening as per constitution. Some peoples say money but these MLAs are business people for long time and are very rich so they need power and development not money.

May be for some people who don't like BJP, forced them to comment here out of frustation. But what BJP doing now is right for the stability of the Govt. to rule for 5 years. Also we don't need an assembly election for five years. There is a move by the Congress & JD-S to topple the Govt. by luring independents. By sensing this BJP acted wisely to balance their majority. May be the people who commented here need another election because they cannot digest the BJP's Win. So nothing wrong here & don't bother about karnataka Govt. for 5 years. We need development not election over election...

This is very ugly politics done by BJP. People of the respective consituencies should go against these MLA's because these have cheated the people & the re election is the burden for the state treasery. It is good to develop the constituency, but these have gone in the hungry of ministership. Do all the 224 constituency have MLA's of ruling party?.These MLA's are trying to fool the people.people should teach lesson to these dirty politicians.

I have read the comments and it seems everyone is emotional and don’t understand practicality. BJP is doing this for stability. 1. Karnataka need stable govt for 5 years – Even though all independents seems to be reliable peoples but they can dictate terms and blackmail govt at any point. Since independent MLA are staunch followers of Congress & JDS leaders, they may change their mind and go with congress and JDS later there by de-stabilizing govt. 2. As we all know Devegowda and sons are very dangerous guys. Even Congress and JDS are planning secretly to destabilize govt. 3. Conducting election for 6 constituencies is always cheaper than state re-election. 4. Peoples should appreciate BJPs plan to give stable govt.

    3. Conducting election for 6 constituencies is always cheaper than state re-election.
    4. Peoples should appreciate BJPs plan to give stable govt.
    5. Till now Congress and JDS have taken our state for granted. Now onward all parties should really work to win election.
    6. As we all know Devegowd family looted, ruined and corrupted our state money and property
    7. Political consolidation happening right now is really good for the state govt stability
    8. We don’t want parties like JDS and SP in our state.
    9. It is shame that Congress and JDS did not join Govt delegation to Delhi.
    10. JDS and Congress are not fit to rule our state. There is nothing wrong in BJP becoming stronger to give 5 years stable govt. This is not new in Indian politics. This happened in Jharkandh, Goa and many other states.

Let us wait for 5 years to see how BJP will do and the talk.

People should reject these politicians. Repolling will cost huge amount of money and extra burnden to the state treasury. If it is by BJP, everthing right!?. Their brand of democracy is tailored for their convenience, as rightly stated by Mr. Alfred. State health minister and Ballary mine king pumping his illegal wealth to lure these poor MLA's. Sarvajana Sukibavantho ...,

There is absolutely no ethics in Politics. It is no more a social service, but all money making business. Just very few exists like Manmohan Singh, who do honestly. Frankly speaking, each and every MLA of Karnataka - if you see their back ground and the intention to join Politics is absolutely selfish and self centered.

BJP did nothing wrong. Both congress and JDS are not saints to preach. Even now they ar looking for an oppurtunity to topple BJP government. If they were in BJP's position they would have also done the same. After all throne has to be removed by throne only.

I dont understand why people accuse BJP of using Money to Rope in these MLA's. I think BJP has the numbers and that there is no need for the BJP to do something like this...So I think that the MLA's on their own must have decided to Join the BJP.

We have not defined the rules & regulations for these specially elected reps. If possible Repolling should not be entertained. If repolling done the voters must get one day salary to be paid when one go for voting. Or voters should not go for casting their vote by wasting their precious time.

Request Honourable Supreme Court must intervene and stop these type of ugly nonsense practise at the cost of masses. We have crossed our freedom. Rich become more and more rich & poor become more and more poor.

This is like leaving one religion and joining the other. But to my surprise BJP is accepting it. It means if anyone leaves their religion and join the religion which BJP follows will not be called conversion? Or they call it democracy? However, it is in the hands of the voters and they should teach these pliticians what is true democracy.

My question to these 3 MLA's is how much were they paid to switch their allegiance? Big talks of converting their constituencies into model constituencies is all hog wash. Its a pathetic display of politics

If they really had a vision then they should have decided to join BJP before the elections..its clearly eveident that money has played a decisive role. Co'mon lets show such oppurtunists the door. such dis honest polticians do not deserve to represent us the people. If they are'nt faithful to themselves how can we have faith in them???
