Rahul targets Modi over low govt spending on education in Gujarat

New Delhi, Dec 2 (PTI): Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi today took to Twitter to question Prime Minister Narendra Modi over low government spending on education in the BJP-ruled Gujarat.

Posing the fourth question in the series "a question a day", Gandhi asked, "Why is Gujarat on the 26th position with regard to spending on government education? What wrong has the youth of the state done?"

The Congress leader, who is leading his party's poll campaign in in the western state, accused the prime minister of "commercialising education at the cost of government schools and institutions and hitting students hard with fee hikes".

"How will the dream of a 'New India' be realised this way," Gandhi asked Modi, who has been canvassing for votes for his party for the assembly polls.

The tagline of his posers to the prime minister is "22 salon ka hisaab, Gujarat mange jawaab (Gujarat demands answers for 22 years of BJP rule".

Gandhi earlier asked Modi why public money was "squandered" in purchasing power at higher rates from private companies in Gujarat.

He also asked why the people of Gujarat should pay up for the "financial mismanagement" and publicity by him.

He asked whether it will take 45 more years to provide new houses to Gujaratis as the incumbent BJP government in the state has provided only 4.72 lakh houses in the last five years against the promised 50 lakh.

Gujarat, the home state of Modi and BJP president Amit Shah goes to polls in two phases on December 9 and December 14.

    @SB chill,
    UP civic poll, BJP has won only in Mayor election with help of EVM. In Nagar Palika and Nagar Panchayat BJP lost very badly. BJP lost in Modi's Varanasi and Yogi's Gorakhpur. Don't fool the people. You have to ask this question to both Yogi and Modi, why they failed to retain their constituency.
    Million dollar question is why BJP winning with EVM and losing with Ballot paper???

    Abdul Rafiq.EVM is too technical for the Cong to understand , ballot paper was easy, they had whole SOP in place, how to capture booth. Also Congi never complained about EVM till the time Cong was winning. Cong should understand BJP has no captured booth, they have captured imagination of the Cong vote bank. Caste is not that important, development for all is more important now for new generation.

    Sir Abdul Rafiq, If you make a list of impossible excuses..this excuse will top the list..Gone r the days when u could win election by distributing money and alcohol..Indians need development, progress and growth .
    Rahul Gandhi is promising farm loan waivers to attract voters in Gujarat. The people in power have absolutely no authority or power to use public money to give waivers. Instead they should work for development in the agricultural sector to make every farmer of India a powerful and potential individual. By giving farm loan waiver government is making the people of India useless and incompetent. Even BJP''s decision of giving farm loan waiver is a disastrous decision. I just hope that we are done with all farm loan waivers.
    Also Rahul Gandhi is a incompetent leader. In a cricket field a batsman or a bowler has a long career only because of his capabilities and contribution in the teams performance. If Congress has to think of a revival the first thing they should do is get Rahul out.
    People henceforth will support and vote for the party working for development. Performance is REALITY.

    Rahul, this is getting tiring and boring & lacks substance. Also your party has badly lost in the Amethi muncipal elections,! The writing is clear on the wall. How can you aspire of becoming a PM when you are not sure of your own constituency? Come on.
