Mangalore:  5 Injured Persons in Uttarkashi Accident Reach Home

Mangalore, Jul 6: A total of 5 persons who were injured in the ghastly bus accident at Uttarkashi district, landed at Bajpe airport enroute to their respective homes on Sunday, July 6 evening.  MLC Ganesh Karnik was with them while they arrived at Mangalore  here from Mumbai.

The five have been identified as  Dayanand Saliyan of Saligrama, Uma Chiplunkar of Karkala, Shakila Shetty of Karkala, Gururaj Acharya of Hosabettu and Anupama of Kodikal.

It may be recalled that the  ill fated  bus in which they were traveling fell into the swollen Bhagirathi River at Nakhuridunda area in Uttarkashi district on Wednesday, July 2.  A  total of 10 persons from Karnataka were traveling in this bus.  The mishap occurred when the front tyre of the bus burst following which the driver lost control and the vehicle fell into the river.

Jayalakshmi Kamath and Manoj Prabhu of Karkala  died in this accident and it is reported that  Umavati of Karkala is still missing. Another injured person Ravikala has already reached Mumbai.
