People would reject Hindutva clone: Jaitley on Rahul's temple visits

Surat, Dec 3 (PTI): Senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley today dismissed Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi's temple visits amid Gujarat poll campaign, saying when the original Hindutva party was available, people would reject its "clone".

The Union Finance minister also launched an attack on the previous UPA government, which was led by Manmohan Singh. The former prime minister was also present in Surat today.

"We (BJP) are linked to Hinduism. If people imitate us then what can we do. But the basic principle is if the original is available, why would people go for a clone?" Jaitley said while replying to questions about Gandhi's temple visits.

He alleged that the Singh-led government which ruled for 10 years was the "most corrupt government".

"It was a leaderless government. It was said that the then prime minister is in office, but not in power. Policy paralysis was the order of the day," the BJP leader said.

"In 1980, Gujarat had seen that when politics of social polarisation was practised, the agenda of the state changed. But when the BJP government came to power, the state left the politics of social polarisation," he said.

"Gujarat paid a huge political cost in the 1980s. The Congress is today attempting to bring back the same old politics. This social polarisation results in a division on the basis of caste. It will be a policy diversion from development," Jaitley said.

Why these people are so insecure ? Why they fight on Rahul's religion ? Even if he is non-Hindu, doesn't he allowed to visit temples ? Who are these people who proclaim themselves as protectors of Hinduism ? Why Politicians have to mix religion with politics ? Mota Bhim is a Jain. For political gains he drags Hinduism and temple issue in politics. If he has so much love and respect for Hinduism, why can't he convert to Hinduism ?

Rahul faith is especially personal because it's confusing as well..
    Paternal grandfather Parsi
    Paternal grandmother Hindu
Maternal grandparents must be Roman catholic.
    Father half Parsi half Hindu
    Mother Roman catholic..
What is Rahul then? Poor chap must be confused.
Then they ask him to visit temples.

    Why this kolaveri?
Birth is important not who are responsible for the birth. Faith or the renouncement of it is one's personal choice. Dr Ambedkar was born Hindu he abhorred the casteism and hence he along with 3500 like minded Hindus espoused Buddhism. Likewise many Christians from west have converted themselves to Hidus and vice versa.

Mahesh, please count disagree on your comment and realize there are more religious tolerant people than intolerant. Maximum people wants peaceful co-existence. Only few with your mindset stir trouble and destroy peace. Jai Hind.
