Mangaluru: District level World AIDS Day held

Mangaluru, Dec 11: The D K District and zilla panchayat in association with District Health and Family Welfare Department, District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit, St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, D K District Legal Services Authority, NSS Units of the Colleges under Mangalore University, Red Ribbon Club of the Colleges and NGOs, organized District Level World AIDS Day – 2017 on December 8 at St Agnes College Auditorium.

They organized AIDS Jagrithi Jatha to give awareness on AIDS. The Jatha began from Balmatta PU College at 8:30 am and reached St Agnes College campus at 9.30 am.

Around 750 students from different colleges participated in the programme.



The stage programme was started at 10:00 am in the college auditorium. Mallana Gowda, senior civil judge and member secretary of District Legal Services Authority inaugurated the programme. Principal, Sr Dr M Jeswina presided over the programme. Dr M R Ravi, IAS, chief executive officer, zilla panchayat, D K District, Dr Ramakrishna Rao, District Health and Family Welfare officer, Dr. Sikandar Pasha, in-charge officer, District Health and Family Welfare Department, Dr Badruddin, M N, District AIDS Prevention and Control officer and District Tuberculosis Control officer, D K District, Sabitha Shetty, president, Lions Club, Mangaluru-Netravathi were the chief guests.

Anita Kini, senior advocate and mediator, D K District and Dr Kishore Kumar M, Health Officer, Heart and Tuberculosis Hospital, Moodshedde delivered the lectures.
