Puttur, Jul 11: Some miscreants assaulted the manager of the local press club cum TV reporter Anish, by diverting his autorickshaw which he was traveling on Wednesday July 9 night, to a deserted spot near the commercial tax office here.
Anish had hired an autorickshaw from the city bus stand on Wednesday July 9 night, in order to deliver the CDs of news at the local cable TV network. At the same time, some persons approached the autorickshaw driver and forced him to take them to the area where the tax office premises are located. Anish was assaulted by the group once the vehicle reached a secluded corner near the tax office. As the entire city was experiencing black out at that time, he could not identity any of them. Meanwhile, he was robbed off some cash that was found in his pocket.
Anish survived the assault and managed to reach his office although the assailants gave him a hot chase.
Puttur town police have registered a case in this regard and investigations are in progress.
The Taluk Journalists' Association has strongly condemned the incident of assault on their colleague.
