Mumbai: Unruly Passenger Forces Flight to Divert

IANS

Mumbai, July 12: A Bangkok-bound Qatar Airways flight was diverted to Mumbai early on Saturday after a passenger misbehaved on board, an airport official here said.

The passenger, identified as Fahad Mohammed Dulal, a 34-year-old Kuwait national, was drunk and was getting violent with other passengers, the official said, requesting anonymity.

The pilot of the flight QR-612 decided to land the Airbus A-330-300 aircraft at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA), Mumbai, so that Dulal could be offloaded.

"The plane landed here at around 2.38 a.m. and was parked at Bay 65 of the airport," said the airport official.

The jet spent about two and a half hours on the ground here before taking off for Bangkok at 5.08 a.m.

According to airline officials here, the passenger would be sent back to Doha Sunday on Qatar airways flight QR-201.
