Udupi, Jul 14: Addressing a meeting of district revenue and other oficials, MLAs, MLCs and zilla panchayat(ZP), taluk panchayat and gram panchayat presidents convened at Brahmavar Agricultural Co-operative Bank hall recently, state home minister Dr V S Acharya informed that Byndoor and Brahmavar, the two new taluks proposed to be carved out in the district, will soon come into being along with 28 other proposed new taluks in the state.
Acharya asserted, that chief minister B S Yeddyurappa will fulfill the promise he had made earlier in this regard. Bhujanga Shetty, former zilla panchayat president and current member of the ZP suggested for utilising ten acres of land reserved near the horticultural office to develop the taluk centre. Another former ZP president Shankar Poojary argued that it would be better to seggarate some villages like Bellampalli and Kukkihalli from Brahmavar revenue division before formulating new offices and bring them under Udupi taluk because of their proximity to Udupi.
Many others like MLAs Raghupati Bhat, Haladi Srinivas Shetty, Lalaji Mendon, MLA Kota Sriiva Poojary, ZP members Janardan Tonse and BK Hegde, addressed the gathering.
