Kundapur, Jul 14: Renowned philanthropist and entrepreneur Dr G Shankar, who also is a Rajyotsav awardee, presided over the inaugural function of the extra-curricular activities of the Bhandarkar's College for this academic year, held in the college premises recently.
Speaking on the occasion, he advised people to make use of the opportunities offered to them by the extra-curricular activities club of the college. The students should never miss out on these activities, as they provide them with a platform to hone their skills. They not only inculcate leadership qualities in them but also help them to imbibe our cultural ethos, he stressed.
College trust president S Prabhakar Tolar, who was present on the occasion, said that he has already made a donation of Rs 50,000 for the mid-day meal programme introduced by the college and declared an additional donation of Rs 1 lac for the cause. This announcement was welcomed by the students through thunderous clapping and loud cheers.
Dr H Shantaram, Manipal Academy of General Education administrator said that any child can have talent and nobody monopolizes talents. Through the extra-curricular activities, the college provides students an opportunity to bring out their latent and innate talents, he said.
College principal Dr Sulugod Narayan Rao welcomed and delivered a brief introductory speech. Dr H V Narasimha Murthy welcomed the chief guests. Prafulla introduced the guests to the audience.
Bhandarkar's College new principal G M Gonda thanked the invitees for gracing the occasion. Dr M V Narayana Swami conducted the programme.
