Top JeM militant Noor Mohammad killed in encounter in J&K

Srinagar, Dec 26 (PTI): Wanted Jaish-e-Mohammad militant Noor Mohammad Tantray was killed in an encounter in Samboora area of Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said here today.

Acting on a tip-off, a crack team of Jammu and Kashmir police cordoned off a house where two JeM militants were believed to be holed up, the police said.

In the ensuing encounter, Tantray was killed whereas there was no information about the presence of the second militant, it said.

Tantray was out on a parole since 2015. He was the mastermind of a suicide attack at Srinagar airport earlier this year.

Hailing from Tral area of south Kashmir, Tantray's death is seen as a blow to the terror group as he was the key man in reviving the JeM in south and central Kashmir.

Over 210 militants were killed this year in coordinated operations between the Army, the Jammu and Kashmir Police, and paramilitary. The top leadership of Hizbul Mujahideen and Lashkar-e-Taiba, and also Jaish-e-Mohammad — that staged a deadly comeback this year in the region’s turbulent security situation — was wiped out. However, at least 75 personnel from the Army, CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir Police, had to lay down their lives during these operations.

How many India jawans have been martyred since the Modi government's much publicized 'surgicial strike' ? Why is the government and BJP friendly TV media not providing statistics on that ? Why is the government and some TV media going all gaga over a miniscule again now ? Obviously just to make Modi look like some Super God.

Its all over the TV channels Bro, Indian army has crossed the LOC again killed 3 Pak soldiers, Great job by the Indian Army. Army is a non-political entity. Therefore, media channels should stop taking opinions of politicians from opposition who only know how to talk against our Army and Soldiers.
For years these politicians have not appreciated what our forces have, so their opinion is not required and if they talk politics they should be booted first. However the supporters of Bangkok Babu will still ask for proof. You would agree with me that If it was KHANgress they would have told 'we will not play cricket' and now they want proof. Even Kejriwal is quiet now.
