Mangalore: Rape Accused Sentenced to Seven Years Imprisonment

Mangalore, Jul 16: The Second additional sessions judge of the district court M Sanjeev Kumar, through a judgement delivered on Tuesday July 15, has sentenced a person accused of rape, with seven years of imprisonment and fine of Rs 5,000.

Accused Srinivas alias Sheena Gowda (45), a resident of Shibrikere Borugudde of Tenka Yedapadav village, was accused of raping a married woman residing near his house. He reportedly entered her house when she was alone, on January 8, 2007 and raped her after dragging her to the bed room. A case had been registered in Bajpe police station and the then Panambur DySP Pitamber Heraje had investigated the case and filed chargesheet against the accused.

Additional public prosecutor C Venkatramana Swami appeared in the case on behalf of the prosecution.
