Mangalore: Ullal Block Congress Organizes Protest against State Govt

Mangalore, Jul 16: Ullal Block Congress committee had organized a protest against the state government, charging it with being responsible for creating problems and improper handling of some other problems, in frontof the Thokkottu municipal council commercial complex on Wednesday July 16 morning. It listed the bane of the BJP rule as uncontrolled spread of chikungunya, unscheduled load-shedding, failure to control sea erosion etc.,

The leaders demanded for provision of one fogging machine each to all the villages, spread of awareness about the disease by convening gram sabhas, releasing of a minimum of Rs 50,000 to every village for controlling the disease, provision of food to suffering families and payment of compensation of a lac of rupees in case of death.

They have asked the government not to resort to load-shedding, to provide enough staff and vehicles to KPTCL to fix the problem of power cuts and steps to repair snags within three hours.

The Congress has also alleged that B S Yeddyurappa, who had assured to release special grants towards creating permanent barriers against sea erosion two years back, has failed to do anything in the matter. Even while undertaking operations of erecting temporary barriers by stacking boulders,local representatives are neglected and political upmanship is being witnessed, it has charged.

Eshwar Ullal, Ullal block Congress president, district Congress backward classes unit president Sadashiv Ullal, district Congress general secretary Dinkar Ullal, Ulla town municipal council president U A Ismail, Ullal block Congress minorities unit president Denis D'Souza, Ullal town Congress unit president U K Khader, Ullal town municipal vice president Dinesh Rai and Ullal town municipality standing committee chairman Basil D'Souza were present at the protest.
