Mercury to dip further as cold wave intensifies in J&K


Srinagar, Dec 28 (IANS): The cold wave conditions in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday intensified as night temperatures dropped several notches below the freezing point.

Kargil was the coldest at minus 9.6 while it was minus 7.1 in Leh.

The weather office has forecast cold, dry weather to continue in the state on Friday.

The minimum temperature was minus 2.7 in Srinagar and minus 2.5 and minus 4 in Pahalgam and Gulmarg, respectively.

The night's lowest temperature was 7.8 in Jammu, 8 in Katra, 4.3 in Batote, 0.8 in Bannihal, two in Bhaderwah and 4.2 in Udhampur, the Met said.
