Mangalore, Jul 18: The bundled offer of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd and Hindustan Computers Ltd to provide computers and broadband connection at reduced prices has evoked good response here. The scheme will soon be launched at Karwar, Hubli and Mysore.
The General Manager (Business Development), Karnataka Telecom Circle, Chandrashekar, told The Hindu on Thursday over phone from Bangalore that the scheme was launched in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts on June 30. “It will be launched other telecom districts of the State as and when they are ready,” he said and added that the head office of the State-owned company had approved this tie-up. As per the agreement between the two companies, people can buying a computer for own use and seek BSNL’s broadband connection at Rs. 199 a month for 24 months against the normal Rs. 250 a month. In all, 20 bundled units had been sold in Mangalore and seven in Udupi. The scheme would be continued for the next six months. It would extended to other cities in the State, soon.
