Mangaluru: ‘Expert Day’ held at Valachil with splendid event

Mangaluru, Jan 1: ‘Expert Day’, the annual event commemorating the inception of Expert Group of Institutions on 29 December 1986, was held at Expert PU College, Valachil with jubilation and fanfare.

Dr Shalini Rajneesh, principal secretary, Primary and Secondary Education Deprtment, government of Karnataka was the chief guest. H Kumar, managing director, MRPL, Mangaluru was the guest of honour.

Dr Shalini Rajneesh began her address with an inspiring anecdote. She recalled her school memories that led her to make a decision about overcoming her fears. She apprised the students to, not to step back in any situationand to strive towards success by discarding the qualms of failure. She congratulated the team spirit of Expert and its expertise in moulding the future of aspirant students. She called out to the students to build character and in turn build the nation. She said that knowledge is being used for the best of humanity. Students should be like a star that shines its own light and follows its own path; they should not worry about darkness, for that is when a star shines brightest. They should prepare themselves to accept failure in their pursuit of success and be a phoenix. She said that there is no returning once we taste success as it is the sweetest. She implored the students to utilize their time and energy fruitfully and for the betterment of all, as she considered them to be fortunate to be studying at a college like Expert. Her soul-searching oration had a great impact on the entire audience who gave her a thundering ovation at the end of her speech.



H Kumar appreciated the quality of education offered at Expert and congratulated the professionalism shown by the entire team in making ‘Expert Day’ a success. He advised the students to have passion, to dream, care to achieve and never to feel dejected by failure. He quoted the importance of perseverance and consistency in achieving a goal. H Kumar said that innovation is the most important aspect of change in the world. He asked the students to develop themselves into practicing innovative ideas that would lead to positive changes in the world. He appreciated the practice of daily Yoga sessions, music and SUPW hours in the college. He ended the speech by saying that the biggest gift that a student could present to anyone is a huge achievement in one’s life.

Prof Narendra L Nayak, chairman of Expert Group of Institutions, in his presidential address, attributed the successof Expert to the good team of teachers and equally gifted students. He expressed his pleasure in having the principal secretary of Primary and Secondary Education of government of Karnataka. Expert, according to him, trains students to become successful professionals as well as good human beings. Concluding his short speech he assured everyone present that the students of Expert would use this inspiration to conquer the world and cherish their dreams.

Ushaprabha N Nayak, vice-chairperson of Expert Group of Institutions explained the strategy that Expert uses in shaping their students. She called it a Farmer’s strategy and said that the parents hand over quality seeds to Expert, which the college sows, ploughs, nurtures and protects. After two years, when they are ready to be reaped, they are returned to the parents. She even impressed on the students the requirement of showing strictness towards students by giving the example of the need of a plant to be pruned to be fruitful. The next strategy of the college, she said is to create doctors, engineers, IAS, IPS officers to bring about a change in the life and lifestyles of people with their innovations. The third strategy is to create good human beings. She concluded her address by reciting a motivational shayari, suggesting the importance of hard work in creating history.

Ankush N Nayak, alumnus of Expert PU College recollected the years of perseverance that he spent at Expert. He recounted how he understood the importance of focus and advised the students to have a fear of failure, make use of opportunities, be consistent, be understanding, make sacrifices, maintain efficiency, be disciplined and single-mindedly pursue their goals.

S S Nayak, advisor; Trustees Ustad Rafique Khan, advocate Amrith Kini, B Manjunath Kamath and Suresh Pai; Jaganath Kamath, auditor; Prof Ramachandra Bhat, principal, Expert PU College, Kodialbail; Anmol Murali, president of Expert Alumni Association and Tejas Shetkar, secretary of Expert Alumni association were present on the dais.

The formal programme began with the college anthem and the lighting of the ceremonial lamp.

Dr N K Vijayan, principal Expert College Valachil, welcomed the dignitaries and the audience.

Subramanya Udupa, HOD of Maths faculty and programme director, presented the annual report of the college for the year 2016-17.

As many as 40 odd rank holders of 2016-17 and 34 proficiency prize winners of 2016-17 were felicitated.

The ‘Explore Newsletter’ was released by Dr Shalini Rajneesh along with the other dignitaries. Prof Narendra L Nayak, chairman and Ushaprabha N Nayak, vice-chairperson presented mementos to Dr Shalini Rajneesh and H Kumar, respectively.

Rahul Chandu, president of Expert Student Parliament proposed the vote of thanks.

Master Punit K N (I PUC, B-1 Batch) and Sinchana (I PUC, O-1 Batch) compered the formal programme.

The formal programme was followed by 90 minutes of cultural extravaganza comprising of classical dance, western dance, traditional folk dance, drama, mime, music (Band) and a performance on ‘Expert’ theme song.

The cultural programme was followed by a sumptuous and delectable dinner served by ‘Chef on Wheels’.
