'Serious problem at home' : Rahul Gandhi tells Indians in Bahrain

NEW DELHI, Jan 9 (Agencies) : Congress president Rahul Gandhi promised to give a "new, shining" Congress with a vision on Monday even as he accused Modi government of abetting religious hatred in the country and failing to create jobs for the ever increasing entrants in the job market.

In his first trip abroad after taking over the reins of AICC, Rahul told a convention of NRIs in Bahrain that Congress was not an ordinary institution but a party which had beaten the British out of the country. "I assure you that Congress has the power to defeat BJP in 2019 elections," he said in response to a question from the audience.

"I am here to tell you what you mean to our country, that you're important, to tell you there is a serious problem at home, to tell you that you're part of the solution and that I am here to build a bridge between wherever you are in the world and home," he said in his address to the Global Organisation of People of India Origin.

In his address - the first since he took over as the Congress chief - Mr Gandhi kept his focus on the problems of the young and alleged that the BJP-led government was trying to benefit from it. He accused the government of dividing people on the basis of caste and religion and said it was channelling the fear of jobless young people into "hatred between communities".

Targeting the Modi regime, Rahul said BJP government's "signaling was wrong" which was encouraging violence in the name of religion and cultural differences. "The starting point is what is in your heart, 'neeyat'. I cannot even imagine an India where all our people do not feel part of India. So the starting point is that you believe that everybody, regardless of religion or status, is Indian... now, when there is violence or somebody is threatened, there is a silence.

There should not be silence, government should make its position clear," he said. As in Berkeley during his US trip, Rahul said the twin challenges facing India were rise in sectarianism and failure of the government to create jobs. He alleged BJP was diverting the anger among the youth over joblessness towards religious hatred.

The Congress chief said China was creating 50,000 jobs every day while India was creating only 400, adding that job creation was at an eight-year low while new investments were lowest in 13 years. He said Indian diaspora had lost hard-earned money because of policies like demonetisation.

Several NRIs from all over Gulf nations were present at Rahul Gandhi's event. Well known NRI entrepreneurs of Mangalurean origin, Dr B R Shetty, Ronald Colaco, UAE Exchange president Sudhir Shetty were among them, who attended the meet.

I completely agree with Mr. Kiran D'souza. What was Congress doing all these years. If they have done well like they use to, before Mr. Singh, the BJP would not have come to power in the first place.

Also, since RG regime, Congress was not able to win any votes. Indians abroad are very well updated about the state of affairs in India and you tell them what you can do rather than what is going wrong in India. You are wasting your time and money with foreign trips to lecture to intellectuals and successful businessmen what current Government is doing as if they does not know. Foolish. Stop crying and handover to someone experienced. There are so many good leaders in Congress.

"In a stunning revelation, a company owned by the BJP President Amit Shah’s son, Jay Amitbhai Shah, grew by 16,000 times after Narendra Modi formed the government at the Centre and the former became the saffron party’s chief."
In an explosive piece, The Wire website wrote that the balance sheets and annual reports obtained from the RoC had revealed that in the financial years ending March 2013 and 2014, Shah’s Temple Enterprise Private Ltd. engaged in negligible activity and recorded losses of Rs 6,230 and Rs 1,724 respectively. In 2014-15, it showed a profit of Rs 18,728 on revenues of only Rs 50,000 before jumping to a turnover of Rs 80.5 crore in 2015-16.

Unemployment, poverty, prices of commodity along with expectations of luxury life is going among the youth, all around India. This is a perfect recipe for disaster. Communal Tensions, Crime and fanaticism breed and grows rapidly in these conditions.

Rahul is right in many ways. But, absolutely has no clue to counter BJP in making people to understand, BJP's core vision is dwarf, shortsighted and absolutely disastrous for the country.

Truth shall prevail. That is true and correct. However, after a time gap, truth becomes irrelevant. If pension is awarded after the death of pensioner, who starved seeking it for years, such truth is useless. So is the state of India, the truth related to BJP disasters of Demonetization, GST, Communal tension fanning, if truth of it gets too late into peoples mind it is useless.

Congress has no clue, no action plan, no ground work in getting people debating the affects of it for themselves and the country, seems too weak.

But who is responsible for all this mess? Last 70 years what they were doing?
Why they did not control population?
Why they did not make stringent laws?
Why there is no Uniform Civil Code in the country since 1947?
But they enjoyed the power, looted enough for their 1000's of generations by keeping the public poorer....

Rahul Gandhi, hasn't used religious plank, he has not divided communities based on hatred.
He is a budding and a leader in the making, he will become a great leader as he has compassion and love in his heart for people and their concerns

He may not be a vocal orator like our PM, who only talks and tours and has less concern for people but more concern for his industrial friends.

I wish Rahul becomes a great leader like our own Vajpayeeji, and becomes beackon of hope for poor and downtrodden and helps country propel into growth, harmony & respect for all Indians.
