Udupi, Jul 23: Secretary of the State unit of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Sridhar Kaliveer said on Tuesday that the party intends to strengthen it base in the grassroots level in the State and plans to contest five Lok Sabha seats.
Addressing presspersons here, Mr. Kaliveer said that the party was presently targeting those districts in the State, where the BSP was weak to strengthen the organisation. Udupi was one of the districts, where the organization of the party was not strong.
Hence, it had been decided to conduct information camps in all parts of the district to make the people aware of the party and its programmes.
He said the people had now realised the importance of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and BSP leader Mayawati.
President of the district unit of the party Steven John Menezes, its former president Oswald Fernandes, general secretary Uday Tallur, vice-president Gopal Shanbhag, general secretary of the Mangalore unit of the party Bosappa, were present on the occasion.
