Mangalore, Jul 23: BJP state vice-president Anwar Manippady informed at a press conference held in the city on Tuesday July 22 that the party has launched a membership drive from minority communities. The party aims to enroll two lac new members from these communities, he revealed.
The campaign was initiated in the district on Tuesday July 22. About 300 people from the minority communities came into the party fold today, he stated.
The minority communities have started reposing faith on the BJP because of the contributions B S Yeddyurappa and facilities he extended for their welfare, both when he was the deputy chief minister and after he became the state chief minister. They are now convinced, that the other parties are wooing and exploiting them just for creating vote banks and not out of any genuine concern for them, he explained.
BJP district committee president K Monappa Bhandary, Abdul Salim, Kamarul Burburi, Srikar Prabhu and Franklin Monteiro were present at the press conference.
